Behaviors of the Yukon River Sediment Plume in the Bering Sea: Relations to Glacier-Melt Discharge and Sediment Load

چکیده
Sediment plumes, released to the Bering Sea from delta front of Yukon River, Alaska, are initiated mainly by glacier-melt sediment runoffs in glacierized regions River drainage basin. The surface plumes extended around fan-shaped delta, which is followed northwestward dispersion. During continuous measurements discharge and load, behaviors were explored shipboard coastal observations Sea. At high river load ca. 2500 kg/s, plume partially plunged into sea bottom layer. plunging probably originated nepheloid-layer formation flocculation river-suspended sediment, more than 90% wt. silt clay (grain size d < 63 ?m). In order numerically obtain area a satellite image analysis was performed using three near-infrared bands MODIS/Aqua or MODIS/Terra. significantly correlated (R2 = 0.735, p 0.01) averaged for two days with time lags 20 21 date certain image. Hence, dispersion plume-suspended appears be controlled runoff events rather northward “Alaskan Coastal Water”.

Determination of the Best Model to Estimate Suspended Sediment Load in Zaremrood River, Mazandaran Province
Extended abstract 1- Introduction The phenomena of erosion, sediment transport, and sedimentations have tremendously destructive effects on the environment and hydraulics structures. In general, the sediment transportation depends on river discharges, but the proposed equations inherited serious errors. The estimation of suspended sediment load (SSL) is one of the most important factors in r...

We compute rates of sediment removal from the Columbia River, USA plume near field using a control volume technique. By using data from repeated transect passes along the plume axis, we account for variations in plume width, depth, and velocity, and we construct a framework for determining the dominant terms in the complete sediment balance. The contribution due to turbulent sediment flux is es...
متن کاملEstimating Sediment Discharge Using Sediment Rating Curves and Artificial Neural Networks in the Shiwen River, Taiwan
Sediment in river is usually transported during extreme events related to intense rainfall and high river flows. The conventional means of collecting data in such events are risky and costly compared to water discharge measurements. Hence, the lack of sediment data has prompted the use of sediment rating curves (SRC). The aim of this study is to explore the abilities of artificial neural networ...

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
